Mardi Gras Mambo: The Neville Brothers with Dr. John & The Lower 9-11

Thursday, February 11, 20108:00PM - 10:00PM

The Neville Brothers
Throughout their long careers as both solo performers and as members of their group, The Neville Brothers have always proudly carried the torch of their native New Orleans’ rich R&B legacy. The brothers first got together in 1977 and recorded their debut self-titled album on Capitol. Thirty-two years later, the group is still recording, touring and securing their reputation as first-rank showmen and shamans. Hit songs include “Brother Blood,” “Yellow Moon,” “Everybody Plays The Fool,” “Family Groove” and the Grammy-winning “Healing Chant.” Their 2004 album, Walkin’ in the Shadow Of Life has proven that in the fourth decade of their creative life, they are stronger than ever. The Nevilles continue to provoke, entertain and excite audiences around the globe.

Dr. John & The Lower 911

Four-time Grammy® winner Dr. John is universally celebrated as the living embodiment of the rich musical heritage exclusive to New Orleans. His colorful musical career began in the 50’s when he wrote and played guitar on several albums including recordings by Professor Longhair, Art Neville and Frankie Ford. He has played on records by Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison and Aretha Franklin to name a few and launched his solo career developing the charismatic persona of Dr. John, The Night Tripper. Adorned with voodoo charms and regalia, a legend was born with his breakthrough 1968 album, Gris-Gris which established his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock and Creole roots. Several of his many career highlights include the masterful album, The Sun, Moon and Herbs in 1971 followed by In The Right Place in 1973 which featured the hits, “Right Place Wrong Time” and “Such A Night.” His most recent album, The City That Care Forgot, was released in 2008.
