Franklin & Marshall's newest 38,000 square foot performing arts center opened in the fall of 2003. As part of the Performing Arts Center, the Schnader Theater has seating for 305 that, while bigger in size than the previous mainstage theater (the Green Room), maintains the intimate feel. With expanded handicapped access, convenient catwalks, state of the art technology, a pit that can fit a small orchestra, and a thrust stage that's larger than two-thirds of all Broadway stages, the Schnader Theater is the perfect location for both professional and college productions.
In the Kreisel Lobby of Roschel, a brick arcade divides the lobby, which overlooks Spaulding Plaza, from the former 15,000 square foot Mayser pool building that was renovated to fit two spacious dance studios outfitted to accommodate the various styles of dance. In addition, the renovation added a rehearsal and teaching space, which contains a piano and full mirrors that can be covered (much like in the dance studios), and numerous other support spaces.
